Keeping Children Safe in Education: Our thoughts and advice
We've worked together with youth workers, teachers, parents and carers, and young people to develop this guidance for filling out the consultation.
The government has proposed changes to a document called Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE). This document is a piece of statutory guidance for schools and colleges.
One major change is the addition of guidance on the treatment of transgender pupils.
Because the changes to this document are substantial, it has been opened for public consultation. This means that anyone can share their thoughts and feelings on the changes and the government will consider them. The consultation is open until April 22 2026.
