akt, Gendered Intelligence and Stonewall Housing have worked together to create a resource for housing and accommodation providers following the April 2025 UK Supreme Court Ruling on the definition of 'sex' in the Equality Act:
Trans Inclusion Beyond the Supreme Court Ruling: a facilitated reflection.
The package is designed to support organisations to consider their own approach to trans inclusion policies and practices, whilst complying with the law.
Organisations will gain:
- A solid understanding of the importance of trans-inclusive services in housing
- More context to the UK Supreme Court Ruling and awareness of its potential implications for employers and service providers
- A suggested framework of questions to ask within your organisations to guide decision-making about your approach.
The resource can be delivered either as:
- a package of training - working with a group of staff in your organisation over 3.5 hours (a 2.5 hour version is also available for those who are already knowledgeable about trans people and trans inclusion)
- or a package of consultancy - with individual team members or a small team within your organisation.
