The West of England (Laurels) Gender Identity Clinic Speech and Language Therapists collaborate with us to support people waiting to access care. Two specialists in gender-affirming voice and vocal therapy will help you understand more about your voice in general and ways to improve your comfort with it.
Some of the areas we will cover are:
- What is voice?
- The challenge of change
- Perspective of people with lived experience
- Practical voice exploration
- Q&A and final thoughts
This is an introductory session, so it may not be helpful for those who are already receiving voice therapy or working within a framework that works for you.
So far in 2025, we have held one online workshop and one in-person workshop in Plymouth. We will host another online workshop in the autumn — details to be announced later in the year. In previous years, we have organised our in-person workshops in Bristol and Exeter.
Previous attendees' feedback
"The workshop was very thorough, and I was surprised at just how much valuable knowledge was given in such a limited time. I especially liked that we also heard from people with lived experience at this workshop, it gave extra insight into how useful voice teaching is, as well as feel validated for the initial embarrassment one feels when beginning voice training."
"Was pretty nervous about coming, turns out I had no reason to because it was incredibly well run! Clearly considered neurodivergent people, general accessibility and felt like an incredibly safe and welcoming space."
