Practice description

About the Therapist

I am a non-binary gender fluid relational practitioner with a history of volunteering for LGBT charities and crisis Cafes. I have more than ten years of experience working in the health and social care sector. For almost 5 years I worked for a homelessness charity as a health coach and health advocate with people who have experience of homelessness, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, criminal justice and diverse substance misuse.

I have a background in the arts and creative thinking, and I apply these skills to the theory and practice of psychotherapy and counselling. I attempt to work within an anti-oppressive framework with intersectional lenses.

Experience and approach:

The therapy I offer is integrative, rooted in relational transactional analysis psychotherapy. In my practice, I use elements of cognitive behavioural approaches to support the process of change of thought patterns. I work psychodynamically, exploring the relationships and events of your childhood and current relationships and attitudes towards life. I work with transgenerational trauma and its impact on our lives. I use relational approaches in psychotherapy such as the quality of the relationship between us, mutual impact within the therapeutic dyad, to bring your relational patterns to your awareness

My clinical methodology is firmly rooted in relational psychotherapy, that examines what emerges between us in the room. I will sometimes share it with you. I am also interested in how you relate to yourself and others in your life, and to the various elements that constitute your daily living. I work with the unconscious communication between us, which sometimes manifests as ruptures or as thoughts and feelings that surprise us.

Working with me, you will find a space where you can risk practising new behaviours and new ways of thinking. I offer a therapeutic space, inviting you to explore your capacity to feel a variety of emotions, especially those that make you feel uncomfortable or embarrassed to feel. Offer space where you and I can discuss the power dynamics present in your life and your intersectional identities without the judgement that prevents in-depth exploration of the identities you live in the society.

I work with individuals and relationships/couples. I work with a wide range of issues, including depression, stress, anxiety, bullying, shame, anger, intimate partner violence, and substance misuse. We can also work together with your gender, erotic and sexual identities (queer, BDSM, kink, others), your relationships styles, class, ethnicity and cross-cultural identities. You and I will work with what you feel is necessary and important to address and recognise in yourself and your relationships. I work with people facing life changing decisions such as marriage, divorce, starting a family; events such as loss, change of career, health problems. We will look at how power dynamics and social structures have been shaping your life. We will work together towards the change you want in your life.

When working with couples and ENM relationships, I support partners to learn to communicate better, recognise their individual unfulfilled needs, be more courageous in sharing their needs and feelings and live their relationships more satisfyingly or to part well. Together, we will work towards a better understanding of the places where partners become defensive and relationships get stuck.

I invite you to contact me for an initial free 20-minute online or in-person consultation to discuss how we can work together.

I charge £65 for 50 minutes individual sessions and £90 for 60 minutes relationships/ couples therapy.
