Waiting Well
Supporting trans and non-binary adults registered with Exeter/The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic
Waiting Well is a new service from Gendered Intelligence and LGBT Foundation, created to support trans and non-binary adults who are registered with Exeter/The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic.
Long waits are a failure of healthcare and policy, and no one should have to wait years to access the healthcare they need. We know that long waits to access gender affirming care can have huge negative impacts on people’s mental and physical health.
Waiting Well aims to make the waiting experience feel more manageable and less lonely through a mix of welcoming, supportive, and affirming groups, workshops, and online resources.
Our Waiting Well groups are:
A support line for people on the Exeter/The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic waiting list. The line is run by and for trans and non-binary people.
A monthly group for adults registered with Exeter/The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic. This group is centred around supporting one another as you wait for gender-affirming healthcare.
A monthly group for trans and non-binary people aged 50 and over who are waiting for gender care. It offers a space to connect with others and share experiences.
A voice workshops for adults on the waiting list for gender-affirming care by the Exeter/The Laurels Gender Identity Clinic.
A structured program for individuals awaiting their first appointment.
